Obituary

William Edwin Luczaj, 79, of Troy, IL passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

He was born September 9, 1946, in Mount Vernon, IL to the late Edwin and Alice (née Williams) Luczaj. William proudly served his country in the United States Army.

William dedicated his career to the trade he valued deeply, working as a commercial carpenter and retiring from Carpenters & Millwrights Local 1102. His craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and pride in a job well done left a lasting mark on the many projects and people he encountered throughout his career. He was also a devoted member of Collinsville VFW Post 5691, where he found camaraderie among fellow veterans.

An avid outdoorsman, William found great joy in RV'ing, boating, and spending time in nature. Above all, William loved his family and friends and treasured the time they spent together.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Robert Luczaj; one sister, Rosemary Kallal; and brothers-in-law, Jeff Beeler and David Combs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha (née Beeler) Luczaj; his four children, Alicia (Darin) Lee of Boise, ID, Jennifer (Dwayne) Hilton of Fenton, MO, Brett Lovell of Potosi, MO, and Jill (TJ) Walker of Pawnee, IL; seven grandchildren, Madysen (Hayden) Howard, Isaiah Hilton, Rebekah Hilton, Grant Walker, Benjamin Hilton, Jack Lee, and Ruby Lee; and four sisters, Margaret Quigley, Angela Luczaj, Cathy Combs, and Jeanette Mecum; numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where William will receive full military honors in recognition of his faithful service to his country.
